NetworkNewsBreaks – Lexaria Bioscience Corp.’s (CSE: LXX) (OTCQX: LXRP) DehydraTECH Outperforms Conventional Industry Formulations in Animal Testing

Biotechnology company and drug delivery platform innovator Lexaria Bioscience (CSE: LXX) (OTCQX: LXRP) this morning announced that animal testing has proven that its DehydraTECH(TM) technology delivers cannabinoids to the bloodstream much more quickly and effectively than conventional industry formulations. According to the update, 10 male Sprague-Dawley rats were administered CBD at 25mg per kg of bodyweight in each arm of the Lexaria animal studies. Delivery of CBD into the bloodstream was monitored over a 60-minute duration and, at two minutes, 15 minutes, and 60 minutes, DehydraTECH’s LCFA formulation delivered elevated levels of CBD in blood (showing measurable and 475% and 319% greater levels, respectively) as compared to a medium chain triglyceride (“MCT”) oil formulation. Over the entire 60-minute study, the standard DehydraTECH LCFA formulation achieved an average maximum CBD blood concentration level that was 334% more than the average maximum blood concentration level of the MCT oil formulation.

Union votes to strike at General Motors' US plants

Sep 15, 2019

DETROIT — The United Auto Workers union announced Sunday that its roughly 49,000 workers at General Motors plants in the U.S. would go on strike just before midnight because contentious talks on a new contract had broken down. About 200 plant-level union leaders voted unanimously in favor of a walkout during a meeting Sunday morning in Detroit. Union leaders said the sides were still far apart on several major issues and they apparently weren't swayed by a GM offer to make new products at or near two of the four plants it had been planning to close, according to someone...

Zimbabwean doctors protest against abduction of union leader

Sep 15, 2019

HARARE, Zimbabwe — A group of Zimbabwean doctors marched at the country's biggest hospital Sunday, demanding the release of one of their leaders who they say was abducted after calling for a pay strike. Several government critics, including a comedian and a teachers' union leader, have in recent weeks been abducted from their homes, tortured and warned by suspected state security agents to back off from anti-government actions. The Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association said its president Peter Magombeyi was abducted Saturday, days after receiving threats on his phone. It was reported as the world's attention is on the southern African...

Egypt's el-Sissi dismisses corruption allegations

Sep 15, 2019

CAIRO — Egypt's president on Saturday dismissed corruption allegations made by a businessman-in- exile about the country's military as "sheer lies and defamation." In viral social media videos posted over the past week, the entrepreneur alleged large-scale misuse of public funds in the building of luxurious hotels, presidential palaces and a tomb for President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi's mother who died in 2014. "I've built presidential palaces and I will continue to do so," el-Sissi, a general-turned-president, said in televised comments. "I am building a new country. ... All of this is not mine. It's Egypt's." El-Sissi was responding to claims by...

Sep 15, 2019

WASHINGTON — Washington Capitals forward Evgeny Kuznetsov has been suspended without pay for three regular-season games by the NHL for inappropriate conduct, less than a month after he was banned from playing for Russia for four years because of a positive test for cocaine. The NHL announced its punishment Saturday, saying it followed a meeting with Commissioner Gary Bettman on Monday. Kuznetsov will not appeal. "I have decided to accept the NHL's suspension today. I am once again sorry that I have disappointed my family, my teammates, and the Capitals organization and fans," he said in a statement issued by...

Warren has her own plan for everything - except this

Sep 15, 2019

WASHINGTON — Elizabeth Warren has a plan for that. But on health care, she's with Bernie. Warren, a Massachusetts senator and a leading liberal Democratic presidential candidate, has stood out in the 2020 race for her extraordinary focus on detailed plans to address the nation's most pressing issues. Her website lists specific policies for 43 topics: gun violence, Social Security, the Electoral College and even family farmers. But on the issue that matters most to many voters — health care — Warren is all in on her opponent Bernie Sanders' "Medicare for All" plan. The seeming inconsistency was highlighted during...
